Gordon Murray to Receive 2024 EyesOn Design Lifetime Achievement Award
The renowned engineer and designer behind the McLaren F1 will be honored at the Vision Honored gala.
Announced by Tim McGrane, CEO of M1 Concourse, the 2024 EyesOn Design Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Gordon Murray at the Vision Honored gala on June 14, 2024. A commemorative poster by Nicolas Rousselet features Murray's iconic McLaren F1.
What makes this award very special for me is that usually I head up the engineering design team and the studio design team. So to be recognized for my studio work is relatively rare amongst mechanical engineers, said Murray.
Murray, a Professor and CBE (Commander of the British Empire), expressed his honor: This award is indeed an honour, especially when I read the list of truly talented winners from previous years.
The McLaren F1 is widely regarded as the finest driving machine built for the public road, and possibly the fastest production road car the world will ever see. The award is selected by previous winners, mostly designers, highlighting Murray's unique position as an engineer being recognized primarily for design achievements by his design-focused peers.
